After hearing rants and raves from beauty gurus rating this mascara 5 star, I figured it was time for me to try it out myself, even if it was the mini, inexpensive version; $9.00 actually.
When I buy a mascara, I look for three main qualities.
1) The wand.
2) The formula.
3) The way it applys.
Different people have different preferences about how they like their wands. I like a good variety of wands in my mascara collection; some fat, some thin, some bristely, some rubber but, the main thing one thing I look for on the wand of all mascaras is the quality. If it looks real cheap, like it'll fall off within the first week, I won't buy it. This mascara, however, had a great wand! Large and fat: just the way I like it :)
The formula of a mascara should not be goopy. You shouldn't have to wait that long for it to dry on your lashes. Otherwise, when you blink it goes everywhere. I like it to be smooth and light. The formula of this mascara was perfect. Not goopy at all.
The way a mascara applys should not be clumpy at all. It should apply smoothly and flawlessly. You shouldn't have to spend a lot of time working on it. You should just be able to throw it on or go without having to seperate clumps with a lash comb, or wipe off smudges with a Q-tip. This mascara applys fantastically.
So, it sounds like this mascara works pretty well, right? Right. It's a great mascara. I love it! But, I do think it is overhyped. Everyone says, "It's SO worth the money!" "It's so amazing!" It's not all that great, I have to say. I've tried better mascaras from the drugstore. It's not anything that you have to run out and buy for $19 in my opinion but, if you want to try it I would definitely start with the mini version. THat's just my opinion.
I love Benefit and I love this mascara. I'm just saying, I don't find it that amazing. Thanks for reading :)
